Both grades

• Continued to count numbers forwards and backwards (2's, 5's, 10's)
• Continued to work on story problems and coming up with strategies (addition and subtraction)

• Continued to count objects- counted by 1's, 2's, 5's, 10's
  

Reading
1st grade

• Learned what sound and spelling went along with the following letters: F (spelled f and ph), short E, X
  
• Blended CVC words and words with 2 syllables
  

2nd grade

• Reviewed /s/ can be spelled ce and ci_, long a can be spelled ai
  
• Worked with multisyllabic words with long vowels
• Worked with words with silent letters (ex: listen, know)
  

Science
2nd grade

• Began learning about plants- life cycle of a plant, planted seeded
  
• Question the 2nd graders are trying to answer for our plant unit: Does the type of light a plant receives affect its growth?
