What are we learning?

The week before Christmas break the girls learned:

• how different countries celebrate Christmas
• made pictographs
• wrote letters to Santa

This week they will be learning:

Math
Both grades

• Geometry- Identifying solid shapes and their properties

Reading
1st grade

• Learned what sound and spelling goes with the following letters: long a (spelled ai_ and _ay ), long i (spelled _igh, _y, and _ie), long o (spelled _oe ), and review long e (spelled ea)
• Blend CVC words and words with 2 or more syllables

2nd grade

• Work with words with silent consonants (like in listen and answer)
• Practice contractions (like don't and can't)
• Review /k/ (spelled c, _ck, k)
• Review long i (spelled i_e, igh, i)
• Work with words with the prefix re- (like in replant) and suffix -ful (like in thankful)

Writing
Both grades

• Continue to work with paragraphs
• Will write a paragraph about what we did over Christmas Break
