Math
Both Grades

• Continued to work on problem solving using different math strategies
• Worked on doubles facts
• Counted by 2's, 5's, 10's
• Sang the months and weeks songs

1st grade

• Adding two numbers by joining two groups together
• Comparing 3 numbers (least, between, greatest)

2nd grade

• 1's and 10's place value
• Counting and identifying coins (pennies, nickels, dimes, quarters)
• Identifying shapes (triangle, rectangle, circle, square, rhombus, trapezoid)

Reading
1st grade

• Learned what sound and spelling went along with the following letters: I (short sound like in pig), N, L, D, O (short sound like in fox)
• Blended consonant vowel consonant (CVC) words (i.e. map, pat, mom, etc.)
• Comprehension strategies: summarizing, making connections
  

2nd grade

• Learned long i is made by: i consonant silent e (i_e), i at the end of a syllable, igh, y at the end of a 1 syllable word (_y), and _ie
• Learned about r-controlled vowels: ir, ur, er, ar
• Learned about irregular plurals like children, shelves, leaves, etc
• Comprehension strategy: summarizing
